Thiruvananthapuram: The date for joining the participatory pension scheme has been extended till September 19. The finance department has directed all those who are yet to join the scheme to do so immediately. This is amidst strong reactions from leftist unions against this Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). 

The initial time period to join this scheme was till November last year. As per the rule, all those who enter government jobs should join the NPS (National Pension Scheme) within a period of one month. This scheme is applicable to all government employees who joined the service after April 1, 2013.
