Crescent moon sighted; Ramzan fasting in Kerala to begin on Friday


During Ramzan, observant Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk.

Kozhikode: Ramzan fasting in Kerala will begin on Friday after crescent moon was sighted in the state on Thursday.

The Kazis who confirmed the beginning of Ramzan on Friday include Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama President Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, Samantha general secretary Prof. K. Ali Kutty Musliyar, Kozhikode Kazis Syed Muhammed Koya Thangal Jamalullaili and Syed Nasir Hayy Shihab Thangal Panakkad.

During Ramzan, observant Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. The fast will be observed for one month and will conclude with Eid ul-Fitr.
