Kannur: CPM has launched a party-level probe on complaints lodged against DYFI central committee member M Shajar for getting a share of smuggled gold and leaking the party's decisions to Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillankeri.

The complaint was filed by Manu Thomas, CPM district committee member and former DYFI Kannur district president. Following this, the party directed CPM district secretariat member M Surendran to probe the matter. Manu Thomas is yet to respond to media queries.

Manu Thomas alleged that Akash and his gang unleashed a cyberattack on him for raising his voice against gold smuggling gangs. He claimed that Shajar supported Akash on the matter. He added that no action was taken over his complaint by the district committee.

The party announced a probe after the matter was raised in a district committee meeting chaired by MV Govindan concerning CPM's 'rectification drive'. DYFI, in a press release, informed that they would take strict action against false news.
