Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has come out strongly against LDF MLA PV Anvar and reiterates the party stand that there is nothing substantial or worthy of an investigation regarding the allegations against Chief Minister’s political secretary P Sasi. While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Govindan said that he has long years of association with Sasi and had worked together with Sasi as committed comrades. He also has said that Anvar who had made public statements after giving a complaint to the party and CM, should correct his mistakes.

“Anvar is an MLA who stands with LDF. He had raised some issues before the government. He also had put some issues before the party as well. The government had issued an order to investigate those allegations. Party has been verifying the issues raised by Anvar. But, after giving complaints before the government and party, Anvar continues with his public statements. We know how these statements would become weapons for opposition parties to attack the government”, Govindan said.

“CPM secretariat is of the view that Anvar should have avoided those public statements after presenting his complaints before the party and government. His statements had given space for opposition to create an echo against the government and party. CPM wants to say that Anvar should immediately step back from his efforts to disrupt both the government and CPM” he said .

“Anvar is functioning as a member of CPM parliamentary party. So, naturally, CPM should make him convinced about the party stand regarding this issue. This would be discussed in the parliamentary party meeting and in the meeting of LDF MLAs, so that necessary corrections could be made. Party strongly says that Anvar should not continue with his attack against the government,” Govindan said.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan too had come out dismissing the allegations of Anvar as baseless. While denouncing Anvar, CM said that Sasi’s performance as political secretary is expemplary and Anvar’s allegations would be dismissed with contempt.
