Shoranur (Palakkad): The policy of the CPM is to torture those who have cheated the party and to protect those who support it, stated Shoranur MLA and CPM Palakkad District Committee member P K Sasi. He clarified his stand to those who resigned from Muslim League at Karimpuzha in Palakkad and joined CPM.

"If you stand by the party, it will help and protect you fully. But if you cheat the party, then it will torture you. It is the policy of the party and especially we all follow that," P K Sasi said. About 50 Muslim League supporters had resigned from the party and joined CPM the other day. P K Sasi arrived at the meeting held to greet these newly joined ones.

A prohibitory order has been imposed in Palakkad after the COVID-19 spread to more number of people in the district. Allegations have arisen that the programme attended by P K Sasi was organised with huge participation amid the restrictions and they failed to maintain social distancing rules.

Meanwhile, the party has not officially responded regarding the statement of P K Sasi. The opposition has already come up against organising a programme with over 50 people's participation violating lockdown norms under the leadership of an MLA of the ruling party.

The incident took place when the chief minister has been repeatedly telling people to be extra-cautious and follow the restrictions to prevent disease transmission. For the past few days, most number of COVID positive cases are reported in Palakkad district.
