Kochi: CPM central committee member K. Radhakrishnan MP appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Karuvannur case. While speaking to reporters upon arriving at the ED office in Kochi, he said that he had already handed over the documents related to the Karuvannur Bank transactions even before being asked, and that he had no idea regarding the questions the ED would ask. “Let them ask whatever they want,” he added.

The ED is questioning K. Radhakrishnan to clarify matters related to the CPM’s connection with the Karuvannur Bank, including financial transactions involving CPM party accounts.

The MP appeared at the ED office in Kochi at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for questioning. Although the ED had issued two notices earlier, the MP had expressed his inability to attend those sessions due to the ongoing Parliament session and the party congress held in Madurai at the time. On Monday, after returning from Madurai, he had participated in various events in his constituency. It was after this that he appeared before the ED on Tuesday.

The ED is looking into the financial details during the period when K. Radhakrishnan served as the CPM Thrissur district secretary. The current district secretary had also been questioned earlier in connection with the Karuvannur case. The ED's questioning of K. Radhakrishnan is reportedly part of the final phase of the investigation before filing the chargesheet.
