Kozhikode: Speaker AN Shamseer finds himself in the dock over his statement that the RSS is an important organisation in the country. Fellow comrades and the CPI, the ally part of the ruling front, have come out criticizing his remark, reminding him of the RSS' role in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
The CPI has once again expressed its displeasure over the ongoing political turmoil following the allegations of MLA PV Anvar against the police and CM’s office.
On Tuesday, CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam lashed out at Shamseer in connection with his statement that the RSS is an important organisation in the country, saying that Shamseer should remember that it is an organisation that was banned for its role in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
“When a person like Shamseer says that an organisation which had been banned in the country for its role in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi is an important outfit, a question arises regarding the importance. Shamseer should have avoided making such a statement as it has led to so many misinterpretations,” said Binoy Viswam.
He also reiterated his criticism regarding the meeting of ADGP MR Ajith Kumar with RSS leaders. “What was the role of the ADGP of Kerala in meeting RSS top leaders on a regular basis?” he asked.
Earlier, LSGD Minister MB Rajesh also came out against Speaker Shamseer’s statement, reminding him about the ban imposed on the RSS in connection with the murder of Gandhi. Rajesh said that the RSS is an organisation that was banned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Finance Minister KN Balagopal also stated that the RSS is a communal organisation.
