Thodupuzha: Following the humiliating drubbing received in the recently held lok sabha elections serious discussions have been taking place within the LDF and even within the parties of the front. During the Idukki district council meeting of CPI held at Thodupuzha, the general sentiments being raised during the discussions were dissatisfaction and desperation. Many delegates participated in the meeting have expressed their doubts regarding the continuance of CPI in LDF. Most of the delegates have said that the party could not make any progress being a part of LDF.

The council meeting also has criticised all the four ministers of CPI and described them as total failures. CPI is part of INDIA bloc at the national level in which Congress is the major party. So, there is nothing wrong if the party joins with UDF in Kerala. When CPI had joined Congress in the past, the party could get two Chief Ministers. Being an ally of LDF, CPI suffered a lot, the council opined.

The reason behind the defeat in Idukki district is the problems that persist in connection with land distribution. Revenue department can not shy away from the responsibility of the defeat in the district. The entry of Kerala Congress M to LDF has not brought any good in the district. LDF could not even make any substantial progress in the assembly constituency of minister Roshy Augustine. The delegates have vent their ire on Kerala Congress M too for the importance given to the party.

Though there was no mention about the ‘change of front’ in the report of district executive, the delegates participated in the district council meeting have raised the demand of shifting of front. The district secretary has pacified the rebellious delegates by saying that the demand would be intimated to the state council. The delegates also had raised dissatisfaction over the choice of Rajya Sabha candidate of the party as many of them have said that instead of PP Suneer, the party would have selected Annie Raja.
