Thiruvananthapuram: Poet Sugathakumari and Congress leader V. M. Sudheeran have been hospitalised on Monday after testing positive for coronavirus.

Sugathakumari was on ventilator support at a private hospital here. She was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

Sugathakumari is suffering from breathing difficulties due to bronchopneumonia. An expert team of doctors inspected her at the medical college and shifted her to the intensive care unit (ICU). She is under non-invasive ventilation support. Hospital superintendent Dr. M. S. Sharmmad said that her condition was satisfactory.

Meanwhile, V. M. Sudheeran, who belongs to the high risk category, has been admitted to the VIP room and is under strict observation of the doctors.
