Thiruvananthapuram: Talks chaired by Kerala Labour Minister Bindu Krishna on Monday over the mass layoffs at health technology firm CorroHealth ended with a settlement in favour of the affected employees. The company agreed to pay an additional five months' salary to employees who lost their jobs, over and above the two months' salary it had already offered.
According to the minister, the additional payment will be credited by July 26. The agreement was reached following discussions between the Labour Department and the company's management.

Company to provide experience certificates
The settlement also addresses concerns over the future employability of the laid-off workers. CorroHealth has agreed to issue experience certificates, relieving letters and all other necessary documents required for employees to secure new jobs.
The minister said an official agreement had been signed with the company after considering the demands raised by the affected employees.
She added that the experience certificates would not contain any adverse remarks that could affect the employees' chances of finding work elsewhere. Companies often seek verification from previous employers before hiring, and CorroHealth has assured the government that it will not adopt any approach that could disadvantage former employees during such verification.
The company has also agreed to provide full and final settlement details to all affected employees through Form 16 and payslips.
Labour Commissioner, the Special Secretary and other Labour Department officials participated in the discussions.
The minister also thanked Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden, MLA Uma Thomas, trade union leaders and members of the public who stood by the affected employees during the dispute.
