New Delhi: The Congress leadership has initiated a crucial move to placate K Sudhakaran, who has been at odds with the party. Late Tuesday night, two senior leaders held talks with him at his official Delhi residence, “Godavari.” Amid escalating internal tensions, they urged him not to take a hardline stance.

The meeting, which lasted around half an hour, was attended by a Member of Parliament and a senior KPCC office-bearer. One of them is said to be a close confidant of KC Venugopal. The leaders met Sudhakaran during a break in the Congress screening committee meeting and reportedly asked him to wait for the high command’s final decision and avoid public reactions for now.

There are indications that Sudhakaran is dissatisfied with the candidate selection process. His main grievance is that several names he had proposed—except in Kannur—were not included in the list for the upcoming Assembly elections. He also reportedly complained that suggestions he shared with other senior state leaders were completely ignored. He expressed resentment over not being consulted during discussions.

Despite feeling sidelined, Sudhakaran is closely watching the high command’s final decision. However, he has conveyed a clear message that he is not willing to compromise. He had earlier publicly expressed strong displeasure over being excluded from key discussions.

There were earlier reports that Sudhakaran would hold a press conference in Delhi on Wednesday morning. However, following the conciliatory efforts by party leaders, no official announcement has been made so far. Leaders, including MK Raghavan, met him again this morning as part of ongoing efforts to ease tensions.
