Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan stated that the Congress party has lost its identity and existence due to their alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami in the state.

The Muslim community in Kerala has been keeping away Jamaat-e-Islami and Welfare Party for the last 7-8 decades. But the UDF accepted, honoured and validated their ideology. This is the true example of how mean one can be for winning the local body election, Vijayaraghavan said.

UDF gave a very dangerous message by joining hands with Welfare Party. They represent a politics that can even harm the religious harmony in Kerala. We have to engage in an ideological war with them. For Muslim League, they have to switch to intense religious stand for existence, he added.

The League turned submissive to Jamaat-e-Islami and Congress gave in to the League. Congress party lost its identity and existence. Nothing more can be expected from them. However, the public stood by the LDF. They realised the political stand taken by the LDF, Vijayaraghavan said.
