Thamarassery: A complaint has been filed with the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) against former MLA George M Thomas, who was recently expelled from the CPM for suspected financial irregularities.
According to a complaint submitted by a Youth Congress leader UC Ajmal to the VACB director, it was alleged that the former CPM leader exploited his official position while serving as MLA in Thiruvambadi constituency from 2006 to 2011 and 2016 to 2021.

Ajmal urged an investigation against George for allegedly accepting Rs 25 lakh from an NRI businessman in order to help him to avoid prosecution in a POCSO case. The Youth Congress also demanded a probe into the allegation of gifting a resort to an investigation official.
Besides confiscating the illegal assets by invoking the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the complainant also demanded a case be registered against the former MLA and the police officer.
The complainant also demanded VACB look into George accepting money from contractors involved in the controversial Kaithapoyil-Agastianmuzhi road renovation work. Additionally, he called for a probe into whether the former MLA accepted bribes in the form of medical assistance.
