
Alappuzha: 11 members of a family have tested positive for COVID-19 here in the district. The family and relatives of a Kayamkulam native, who tested positive for the virus on June 29, have been diagnosed with the virus.
A Cheruthana native (46) and her daughter and Kayamkulam natives including a 54-year-old man, two youths, two women and three girls are part of the family that contracted the disease.
Out of the 21 people who tested positive in Alappuzha on Friday, 12, including the family, contracted the disease through contact. The COVID patients in the district included eight and nine months-old babies also.
The situation in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram cities and in Ponnani taluk is critical. On Friday, Kerala recorded the most number of COVID cases infected through contact along with the highest number of cases reported in a day.
A health worker in Edappal hospital and a one-year-old who underwent treatment at Sukapuram hospital also contracted the virus.
A family of four in Guruvayur also tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The family had returned from Delhi. A security official deployed outside the secretariat has also contacted the virus. Six CISF officers and an Air Cabin Crew member are also included in Friday’s COVID positive list.
