Discover a cleaner, greener Kerala with the upcoming Clean Tourism campaign promoting sustainable and plastic-free travel experiences.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala, God’s Own Country, is preparing to offer clean nature and beautiful roads to visitors who come here to enjoy its sights. Those who throw plastic waste and litter food items carelessly will now be held accountable.
Tourists will be advised to keep this land clean. For now, no penalties or punishments have been decided. The Kudumbashree mission is being included as a partner in the Clean Destination campaign, which will be implemented across all 14 districts.
The Tourism Department has allocated ₹10.69 crores for this project. Special action will be taken to remove waste from Kovalam, which attracts a large number of foreign tourists.

The Tourism Department is launching the Clean Destination Campaign in all 14 districts to ensure cleanliness in tourist spots.
In Idukki, the ‘Save Green, Save Tourism’ project will be implemented to clean areas like
- Munnar
- Mattupetty
- Munnar Botanical Garden
- Ramakkalmedu Park
- Aamappara
- Panchalimedu
- Valanjanganam
- Idukki Park
- Vagamon
The Haritha Karma Sena (Green Task Force) under the Local Self-Government Department has also been entrusted with responsibilities in tourism areas. A plastic ban will also be enforced in accommodations including homestays.
