
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the operation of 726 state-of-the-art surveillance cameras on Thursday.
During the inaugural Vijayan highlighted the importance of following traffic rules and said that citizens should ensure their actions should not affect somebody's life.
Transport minister Antony Raju who presided over the event informed that violations detected till May 19 will not invoke a fine. The one month will be used for creating awareness about the system, he noted.
The cameras can automatically detect traffic offences and have already been installed across the state and are functioning effectively. They are said to be equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and can clearly identify law violations, even at night.
