The long-standing animosity reportedly escalated into violence while the groups were visiting houses as part of Christmas carolling.

Nooranad, Kerala: Several people were injured after a clash broke out between two carol groups at Karimulakkal here on Wednesday night.
The incident took place around 11.30 pm. The clash involved carol teams led by two local clubs,‘Yuva’ and ‘Liberty’.
According to media reports, the roots of the violence lie in internal disputes within the Yuva Club, which had been active in Nooranad for several years. Following differences within the club, a faction broke away and formed a new organisation named Liberty, leading to sustained rivalry between the two groups.

The Nooranad police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
