
Thiruvananthapuram: Two Chow Chow breed canines grabbed the attention of onlookers at the two-day-long dog show organized by Trivandrum Kennel Club at Greenfield International Stadium, Karyavattom.
The Chinese breed literally stole the show in which 350 canines from as many as 50 breeds took part.
The Chow Chow breed canines contested in the show are of Kiran, a Perumbavoor native and Yeshwanth from Bengaluru. Kiran’s dog is four years old while that of Yeshwanth is just seven months old.
One of the peculiarities of Chow Chow is that it is furry and looks like a lion. The tongue is black in colour. They are fed with special food items. Apart from this, maintenance is easy. The breed cost around Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,00,000.




Breeds like Akita, Siberian Husky, Poodle, English Pointer, Great Dane, Miniature Pinscher, Shih Tzu, Manchester Terrier, Beagle, Labrador, St Bernard and Yorkshire Terrier were present in the show.
Representatives from Kennel Club of India juried the show. The teeth, fur, skin and other health features of the canines, their understanding and response to the instructions given by respective trainers were considered for the evaluation.
The show drew a large number of dog lovers and pet enthusiasts.
