Chintha Jerome clarifies amid controversy over stay at apartment

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Youth Commission chairperson Chintha Jerome on Tuesday elaborated on her stay at the apartment in the wake of Youth Congress’ complaint about it.

According to Youth Congress’ complaint with the vigilance and enforcement directorate, Chintha spent Rs 8,490 as daily rent for one-and-a-half years stay at the apartment. However, Chintha maintained that she stayed at the apartment with a monthly rent of Rs 20,000 including electricity and water charges.

Chintha while addressing the media elaborated on the reasons for the stay at the hotel and hurdles faced despite her “difficulty in revealing her personal affairs in public”. The stay at the apartment was for her mother’s Ayurvedic treatment, she noted.

Chintha also remarked that she has been targeted by allegations daily.

It may be noted that Chintha has been in the middle of a row over her PhD dissertation. A new controversy emerged at this juncture.
