Thiruvananthapuram: In an important development in the case pertaining to the adoption of the baby without his mother’s knowledge, the director of the Women and Child Development Department (WCD) will record the statement of Anupama S Chandran, the mother of the child.

It is learnt that Anupama has been asked to summon before WCD on October 27, Wednesday at 4:00 PM. The investigation is headed by WCD secretary Rani George.

Earlier in the case, Shiju Khan, General Secretary of Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, was summoned before WCD and his statements were recorded.

The Family Court here stayed the legal procedures related to the adoption of Anupama’s child following the intervention of the Kerala government and WCD. Meanwhile, the Child Welfare Committee has informed the court that the child was abandoned.

Minister Veena George on Tuesday said in the Assembly that the Council had followed the legal procedure for the adoption of the child.
