Thiruvananthapuram: Government has ordered changes to be incorporated into the BevQ app in favour of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO).

The number of tokens distributed on a daily basis will be increased from 400 to 600. The government has also instructed to remove the condition which mandated that consumers can book tokens only three days after the previous booking.

The government informed of the new decisions as a part of its order to extend the working hours of the outlets of Bevco and Consumerfed in view of onam. Currently, Bevco and ConsumerFed outlets are allowed to be opened only from 9 am to 5 pm. This will be extended till 7 pm as per the new order.

Strict action will be taken to stop the illegal sale of liquor in bars. Tokens distributed by bars will be inspected in this regard. Instructions have been given to check whether liquor bought from warehouses by bars are proportional to the number of tokens given by them.

There were several allegations earlier that bars were reaping all the profits of BevQ app instead of Bevco. The latest decision has been taken in the favour of the Beverages Corporation after considering this criticism.
