Addressing reporters, Chandy Oommen condemned attempts to demean the NSS leader as "extremely vile" and defended his public demeanor.

Kottayam: Congress MLA Chandy Oommen came out in strong support of Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair on Tuesday, describing him as "one of the most important personalities in Kerala's public life" and an "asset to Kerala."
Addressing reporters, Oommen condemned attempts to demean the NSS leader as "extremely vile" and defended his public demeanor. "Each person has his or her own style. It is not right to distort that style and portray it differently," he stated.
Oommen's defense comes in response to sharp criticisms levied by Kerala Congress (B) leader K B Ganesh Kumar against the chief of the prominent Nair community organisation. Ganesh Kumar raised serious allegations regarding the internal administration of the NSS, pointing to nepotism in appointments at NSS-run institutions, questioning specific bank transactions, and scrutinising the ownership status of a Tamil Nadu college previously held by the society.
Additionally, Ganesh Kumar accused Sukumaran Nair of violating democratic norms by dissolving the NSS Pathanapuram Taluk Union—which Ganesh Kumar headed—despite claiming majority support. While Sukumaran Nair advised him to seek legal redress regarding any administrative grievances, Ganesh Kumar declared he would take his accusations to the "people's court" rather than initiating formal legal proceedings.
