Thrissur: A 74-year-old woman died after falling from a moving bus in Thrissur on Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Nalini, a resident of Poovathur, boarded a ‘Johnny’ bus bound for Poovathur from the Poochakkunnu stop at around 10:13 a.m., according to CCTV footage of the incident. 

Police said the conductor closed the door shortly after she boarded. Nalini initially stood holding onto the rod behind the driver before being told there was a vacant seat at the back. As she moved towards it, the bus took a bend, causing her to lose balance and fall against the door.

The door opened and Nalini fell out, hitting her head on the road. The bus stopped immediately, and staff rushed her to hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.
