Kozhikode: Every nook and corner of the district court will be now under CCTV surveillance. As per the information received, a total of 34 cameras are being installed, including the court verandahs. The Kerala high court decided on installing the cameras as per the directions of the supreme court. The cameras are being installed in the Kozhikode district court by spending Rs 34,88,890.

The decision to install cameras was taken three years ago. The PWD floated tenders and the installation works have now entered the last phase. The inauguration is expected to happen soon. The electronic department of the PWD is taking care of the work. The cameras are powered with high night vision abilities as well.

With the installation of cameras, there will be a clear vision of individuals entering and exiting the court premises. The camera operations will be regulated from a server room set up inside the court. One of the monitors will be viewed by the district judge.

The cameras were installed earlier in a similar fashion in the Thrissur district court. The project is being implemented to boost the overall security in the court.
