Kollam: In an attempt to keep CAA alive during the loksbha election campaign, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hits hard at Congress for their lackadaisical approach towards the issue. In the Citizenship Protection Meet held at Kollam on Tuesday, CM levelled serious allegations against congress leadership for their lack of clarity regarding the subject. “LDF has no confusion regarding the stand to be taken in connection with CAA’, he said.

“When the CAA amendment bill was presented, everybody had protested as a united force in Kerala. A protest meeting was held at Thiruvananthapuram. Assembly had passed a resolution against the bill. Everything was done unanimously, then. But, immediately after the presentation of resolution in the assembly, KPCC president had ridiculed it, saying that, CAA can not be defeated by passing a resolution in Kerala assembly’, Pinarayi said.

He further alleged that, the withdrawal of congress from the joint protest programmes during the second phase of protest, was due to the intervention of Congress national leadership. “When the law was introduced in parliament, the whole country had protested against it. Widespread protest programmes were held in streets across the country on December 10. But,  not even a single MP from Congress had participated in these protest programmes. They were enjoying a feast at the house of Sonia Gandhi. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not even in the country’, CM ridiculed.

‘Left leaders Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat,Binoy Vishwam and many others were arrested for protesting against CAA.  Can anybody a name a leader from congress who got arrested?’ Pinarayi asked. “AM Arif, MP from Alappuzha, had raised his voice against the law in the parliament. Congress has not yet made their stand clear in connection with this subject. When reporters asked about his response regarding the subject, Congress national president had said that, he would give his reply only after ‘thinking about it seriously’, said Pinarayi. “The general secretary in charge of organisational affairs of congress was smiling, then’. When you smile, there is fire in the hearts of  crores of people’, he said.
