Thiruvananthapuram: Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) director G. Jayaraj claimed that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not go back on his appointment.

The appointment of Jayarajan, husband of CPM leader T. N. Seema had created a controversy. The Kerala High Court had sent a notice to the Kerala government over a petition challenging Jayarajan’s appointment.

In this situation, the C-DIT director had summoned a meeting of officials to explain his stance. In a speech made during the meeting, the audio of which surfaced recently, Jayarajan elaborated about his qualification and influence.

Jayarajan stated that he was appointed the C-DIT director because of his qualifications and not because he is the husband of T.N. Seema. “The CM will not go back on his decision. The government will respond to the HC that it has the power to appoint the C-DIT director,” Jayarajan said in the speech. He even claimed that Pinarayi Vijayan will retain power.

Jayarajan also said that allegations were levelled against him to create a political smokescreen.
