Kerala High Court extends toll suspension at Paliyekkara; next hearing on September 30, NHAI response pending.

Kochi: The toll collection at Paliyekkara will continue to be suspended, with the Kerala High Court set to review the case on September 30. The court had issued a temporary order on August 6 suspending toll charges at Paliyekkara. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the contractors have since requested permission to resume toll collection with revised conditions.
In a related development, the Thrissur District Collector submitted a report to the High Court concerning the damaged service road at Muringoor. The report indicates that the road deterioration could have occurred anywhere in the area and highlights the absence of safety barricades.
The division bench will take this report into account before making a final ruling on the toll resumption. In addition, the collector updated the court about the ongoing traffic congestion on the national highway since Wednesday morning.
The HC had on Monday also refused to lift the halt on toll collection following fresh road collapse.
