Thiruvananthapuram: Dissident BJP leader Sandeep Varier, who was having a difficult time with the BJP state leadership, is reportedly moving towards Congress. It is said that, the official announcement regarding this would be made soon.
Sandeep Varier, a young firebrand leader and popular face of the party in channel debates, has been distancing himself from BJP as he feels sidelined by some of the party leaders. He has been abstaining from the campaign in connection with the byelections in Kerala.
Earlier, he had expressed his displeasure over the treatment he received from the BJP leadership and C. Krishnakumar, the Palakkad candidate.
Varier’s absence from the election campaign was a a topic of discussion among BJP workers in Palakkad. Reports suggested that he walked out of a party convention in frustration over not being given a prominent place on the stage. However, in his Facebook post, Varier denied this allegation, stating that he is not the kind of person who would leave a convention for such a reason.
Despite his dissatisfaction with the party’s attitude, he had wished Krishnakumar success in the election through a Facebook post. In the post, he had mentioned facing issues within the party that caused him mental anguish, emphasising that for a person, pride is of utmost importance.
“For a person, pride is of utmost importance. I am not one to feel hurt over not being given a seat. However, I faced issues that caused immense mental distress. This is a truth that cannot be hidden. I am not ready to reveal the issues that trouble me now. Best wishes to my dear brother Krishnakumar in this election,” said Sandeep.
“I do not want to be in a place where I have faced humiliation. I expected some senior leaders to show up and comfort me for the humiliation I endured. Since no one has turned up, I share this post to clear up any misunderstandings from those who care about me,” Varier had said in his facebook post, then.
