Kochi: In a major political development surrounding the CMRL-Exalogic pay-off case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has written to Kerala's Director General of Police (DGP) seeking criminal prosecution against former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, former Public Works Minister P A Mohamed Riyas MLA, also his son-in-law, and daughter Veena T. The central agency has formally requested the registration of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the trio.

The communication, issued under Section 66(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), urges the DGP to file a First Information Report (FIR) and launch a full investigation. Along with the official request, the ED has reportedly shared compiled evidence detailing financial transactions between private firm Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Exalogic Solutions.
The financial probe agency's action follows its ongoing money-laundering investigation into alleged illegal transactions between private mining company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Exalogic Solutions, an IT firm owned by Vijayan's daughter Veena T.
According to ED findings, CMRL transferred ₹2.78 crore to Exalogic under the guise of IT consultancy services. ED officials maintain that no actual services were rendered and that payments were made due to personal ties to the former Chief Minister.

The recommendation for a fresh FIR marks a major escalation in legal scrutiny surrounding the former chief minister and his family.
