Kozhikode: Even as one week has passed since the election, the political battle in Vadakara refuses to die down. Both the LDF and the UDF plan to organise campaign programmes against the attempts to polarise the society communally. Both the fronts had traded allegations regarding communal polarisation during the pre-poll campaign period.

On Friday, DYFI would conduct ‘Youth Alert’ at Vadakara raising the slogan of resisting communalism.

“Congress had indulged in spreading of fake news and fake videos like they had produced fake identity cards during the youth congress election,” said V Waseef, DYFI State president. “They were not ready to correct their stand. They had tried to polarise the people of Vadakara, a land known for humanists. We cannot allow this to continue. We can’t let the remnants of this hatred remain in Vadakara. The campaign on Friday is being conducted to spread this message among the people of Vadakara," said Waseef.

“Since all the fake people were there in Vadakara, fake campaigns were there, too. Now, we want to put an end to the free-run of the fake people,” Waseef said.

Meanwhile, DCC president K Praveen Kumar has entered the fray ridiculing the campaign of DYFI.  “Congress is also conducting a campaign against the communal polarisation,” Praveen Kumar said. "We cannot let people inflicting wounds on Vadakara. The date of the programme will be announced on Friday," Kumar said.

It was just a day ahead of the polling that a message, purportedly originated from a whatsapp group of the Muslim Youth League, started circulating through social media to create communal divide in the society. The LDF had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and police regarding this.  A barrage of allegations followed after the message was spread through whatsapp groups and social media platforms. Youth league too had lodged a complaint that this audio message too was a fake one.

It seems, even after the elections, the wounds caused during the campaign have not healed between the two fronts.
