Kozhikode: The investigation team has filed the chargesheet in the Kunnamangalam court in the case of alleged medical negligence where a pair of forceps were left in Pantheerankavu native Harshina’s stomach following a cesarean delivery.

The chargesheet names two doctors and two nurses as the accused in the case. The 750-page charge sheet was submitted by the investigation officer Assistant Commissioner K Sudarshan.

There are 60 witnesses in the case. The MRI scanning done in 2017 turned out to be crucial in the case as it proved that negligence occurred in the operation done at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. 

Earlier this week, the government had granted permission to prosecute the accused in the case. Harshina said that she hopes that justice will be served and that her struggle will only be complete after appropriate compensation is received. She has decided to approach the Kerala High Court demanding a compensation of Rs 1 crore.

Harshina underwent three cesarean deliveries in total, of which the first two were conducted at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. The third surgery happened on November 30, 2017, at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Following this, she began experiencing health-related ailments. She had to suffer for five years with forceps in her abdomen.
