Booster dose mandatory for those above 60 years, says Kerala govt

Thiruvananthapuram: A review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday directed those above 60 years of age and those with associated diseases, to take the Covid-19 booster dose. In addition, Covid healthcare personnel too were advised to take the booster jab. Further, the meeting recommended using masks in public areas, AC rooms and others areas having large public gatherings.

The Chief Minister stated that everyone should exercise greater caution since the new Covid-19 variant has a higher potential for spreading. Further, local bodies should exercise caution and Health Ministry, State government departments have been directed to follow instructions issued by the union government.

The Kerala Medical Services Corporation is directed to supply medicines, masks and PPE kits as the need arises.
