Railway introduces new booking codes for train coaches

Kochi: The Railway has introduced new booking codes for train coaches. The Railways are revising the booking codes with the advent of new coaches such as ‘Experience’, ‘Vistadome’ and AC three-tier economy. The code on each train coach will also be different.

Railways started thinking about coding change with the advent of Vistadome coaches with toughened glass sealing for sightseeing. New coaches have not arrived in Kerala. It has been decided to implement the new booking codes as soon as these arrive.

The AC three-tier economy coach is expected to arrive in Kerala soon. These coaches will have 83 berths. The rates for these have not been decided yet. It is expected that one train running with Vistadome coaches will be available to all states.

Currently, Vistadome coaches are available on routes such as Dadar (Mumbai) - Madgaon (Goa). All Principal Chief Commercial Managers of Railway Zones have been notified of the addition of new coach codes.
