Kozhikode: The dead body of the missing woman in Kuttikkattoor here has been recovered by the police. Sainaba’s body was found lying beside the Ganapathi Kallu in the deep gorge on Nadukani Ghat road of Malappuram. Her body has been identified by her son. Inquest procedures are underway.
The body was recovered in a search operation conducted by the Kasaba police on the basis of the accused’s confession statements. The body will be shifted to the morgue at the Kozhikode Medical College. Police informed that scientific tests will also be carried out to ascertain the identity of the dead body.

Sainaba had gone missing on November 7 and a missing case was registered by her relatives at the Kasaba station on November 8. A probe into the call records of Sainaba led the police to Samad, a 54-year-old man hailing from Malappuram. Samad has apparently told the police that he ended up killing Sainaba in a bid to steal her gold.
As per the confession of the accused, Sainaba got into a car from the New Bus Stand surroundings in Kozhikode around 1:30 PM on November 7. Samad’s friend Sulaiman also travelled with them to Mukkam. Later on, the woman was strangled to death and dumped into a gorge.
Sainaba was reportedly wearing 17 sovereigns of gold at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, Sainaba’s husband James aka Mohammed Ali claimed that she also carried Rs 3 lakhs and ornaments with her. The money was apparently saved for conducting the marriage of their grandchild. “I work as a security guard. I was away from home on November 7. When I reached home the next morning, I found the house locked. The house owner told me that my wife had left the place yesterday. Along with the money, Sainaba also carried bank passbooks and other documents with her,” said James.
