Kannur: Blood stains were spotted on the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits distributed in Pariyaram Medical College here. According to reports, the PPE kits might have been used earlier.
The blood stain was found on the protective jacket when its packet was opened to distribute the kit to nurses on Sunday morning. Though only one was found first, later stain was spotted on about 10 kits.
The PPE kits might have been used earlier and then repacked after washing, it is learnt. PPE kits are distributed at government hospitals in the state through Kerala Medical Services Corporation. However, the corporation is said to have no responsibility over this issue.
Medical Services Corporation only purchases packed PPE kits from Thiruvananthapuram and distributes it to the hospitals. Pariyaram Medical College authorities have taken the issue seriously. Investigation into the incident have already started.
