Kozhikode: A personification of arrogance and impertinence, Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya has mercilessly murdered a man, said BJP state president K. Surendran. While speaking to reporters in Kozhikode on Tuesday, he said that nobody would believe ADM Naveen Babu accepted bribes in a case where the district panchayat president had intervened four times.

“The district panchayat president got involved herself in this affair for illegal purposes. The complainant and the husband of the district panchayat president are close friends. They work in the same place. BJP has doubts regarding whether this petrol pump in contention is a benami enterprise of PP Divya’s family. That must be the reason behind the rancor of the district panchayat president,” alleged Surendran.

“Usually, permission would not be given to petrol pumps in curves, whether on state highways or national highways, as there are chances of accidents where vehicles that lose control might drive into the pumps. Under normal circumstances, permission would not be granted for petrol pumps in such places by officials of the town planning department or local bodies,” Surendran said.

“He was being forcefully signed before his transfer. Divya staged the ‘show’ during the farewell meeting to humiliate him before his colleagues. The allegation that the ADM accepted a bribe is fake. There are enough complaints against the district panchayat president within the party itself. It is alleged that she is running benami enterprises in Mysuru and other places in Karnataka,” Surendran alleged.

“This has happened in the district of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Revenue Minister says that Naveen Babu was one of the most sincere officials of the department. All the family members are CPM followers. An honest official, who belongs to a CPM family, has been cruelly murdered here,” said the BJP president.

It was on Tuesday morning that ADM Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters at Pallikkunnu near Kannur. District panchayat president PP Divya had accused him of foul play while granting a petrol pump, during his farewell meeting held at Kannur collectorate on Monday.
