Wayanad: Several BJP leaders from the state met Thalassery Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany on Sunday at Bishop House.
Leaders, including PK Krishnadas, AP Abdullakutty and N Haridas, met Pamplany days after he grabbed the headlines with his controversial remark regarding extending support to BJP in the upcoming election if the Union Government raises the price of rubber.
While addressing the media following the meeting, BJP spokesperson PK Krishnadas dismissed rumours of a political motive behind the visit and claimed it was only to convey Easter wishes. The Centre will examine issues raised by Pamplany regarding the rubber farmers and take appropriate measures to address the issue, said Krishnadas. He also added that the bishop was voicing public opinion through his speech.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan visited the headquarters of the Latin Archdiocese and met Archbishop Thomas J. Netto on Easter day.
