Kalpetta: BJP state vice president advocate B Gopalakrishnan has come with a controversial remark while speaking about ‘Munambam land issue’ during an election speech at Wayanad. In his speech, Gopalakrishnan said that if ‘Vavar Swami’ of Sabarimala raises claims, Lord Ayyappa will be forced to walk out of Sabarimala.
He was speaking in an election campaign programme of NDA candidate Navya Haridas at Kambalakkad. Union Minister Suresh Gopi too has participated in this meeting. The controversial remark was made just before Suresh Gopi reached the venue on Saturday.
Gopalakrishnan’s words: “I have a doubt. Tomorrow, will somebody claim that the real owners of the land of Ayyappan is Waqf?. There’s a guy sitting down below the holy 18 steps of Ayyappan. Remember that guy, who is sitting down below the 18 steps, saying that the land belongs to him and he had temporarily handed it over to Waqf . It was a hypothetical situation. But, what if it really happens? Then, the land of Sabarimala will go to Waqf. And Ayyappan will be forced to walk of out the hill. Should we allow that?“ he asked.
