Thiruvananthapuram: Six years after the accident that claimed the life of renowned violinist Balabhaskar, his wife Lakshmi has finally spoken out about the incident. In her first public statement on the matter, Lakshmi clarified that her husband’s death was the result of an accident, not a planned attack. She explained that Arjun, who was driving the car at the time of the crash, had initially stated that he fell asleep at the wheel, but later changed his statement, possibly influenced by someone else.
Lakshmi revealed that she was sitting in the front seat of the car when the accident occurred. They had been traveling from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram after attending a temple ceremony for their daughter. During the journey, Arjun stopped at a shop, and Balabhaskar was lying in the back seat. Lakshmi, who was unwell, had her eyes closed when she suddenly felt the car lose control. She said Arjun appeared disoriented as well.

Lakshmi further added that the car seemed to be speeding, and if she had suspected foul play, she would have filed a complaint. Her revelation to the media comes six years after the accident. She emphasised that she was only speaking from her perspective, based on what she saw during the incident, and stated there was no evidence to suggest any intentional harm.
“I can only say what I saw. I don't want to cause tears for anyone innocent,” she said. Lakshmi made it clear that she didn’t want to speculate on the incident, but stressed that those responsible for any crime should face punishment.
