Aster Medcity has completed over 640 successful liver transplant surgeries in the last decade, emerging as one of Kerala's leading centres for adult and pediatric liver transplantation

Aster Medcity celebrated the 10th anniversary of liver transplants at its Aster Integrated Liver Care facility, establishing itself as one of Kerala's largest and most comprehensive pediatric and adult transplant centers with over 640 successful surgeries performed to date.
“10th anniversary and over 640 successful surgeries is an extraordinary milestone for Aster Medcity. This benchmark is a testament to a decade of saving families and pioneering medical excellence” said Hibi Eden, MP Ernakulam Inaugurating the event.
The center made medical history by performing a live donor simultaneous liver and kidney transplant on the world’s smallest child, and successfully treated the first twins to undergo liver transplantation.
The team also executed India's first successful liver graft reuse. Moreover, showcasing respect for patient beliefs, the department successfully executed complex, bloodless liver transplants for three Jehovah’s Witnesses.
“This ten-year milestone belongs to the entire community of patients, families, and healthcare professionals who have walked together to build a brilliant legacy of health and hope,” said Dr. Mathew Jacob, Senior Consultant - Hepato Pancreato Biliary & Abdominal Multi Organ Transplant, Aster Medcity, Kochi.
This capacity for handling extreme complexity is backed by cutting-edge infrastructure and pioneering medical technology. Advanced capabilities include state-of-the-art robotic and laparoscopic-assisted liver transplantations, which promote precision and faster recovery times, alongside specialised protocols for challenging ABO-incompatible liver transplants.
