Kollam: Congress office on Saturday witnessed some emotional scenes over the candidature of Bindhu Krishna in the constituency. Bindhu broke down in front of supporters after a woman worker from fisherfolk community sternly demanded the leader be fielded here.

“Bindhu Krishna is the person who will help us. If anyone is fielded here apart from Bindhu, they will be defeated. She has the wholehearted support of fisherfolk community,” supporters said.

Earlier the day, mandalam presidents had resigned in support of Bindhu after reports suggested she may not be given the Kollam seat.

Meanwhile, Bindhu said that she was asked by the party to contest in Kundara and that she was not interested. She also informed that she was ready to contest anywhere else including Dharmadom.
