Kottayam: The tonsured head of former Mahila Congress chief Lathika Subhash will haunt Kerala politics forever, said Khadi Board Vice Chairperson Sobhana George.

Lathika’s situation and her face is a warning for everyone in Kerala, Sobhana added while visiting the former at her residence here.

Criticising the negligence towards women in politics, Sobhana stated that women make more sacrifices than any man to remain in public sector and politics. But no one has paid attention or given due attention to them. Lathika told me that she did what she did for every woman out there. No woman enters politics or public sector thinking of honours they will get. She has to adjust the household works and many other things to remain here. But the leadership will ignore us, if they don’t like us citing trivial reasons, Sobhana added.

Sobhana also remembered the time when she was the MLA and was arrested. She stated that she had attempted suicide then.

Coming down heavily on misogyny, Sobhana asked whether the leaders think that women who have no other work enters politics and that women should remain indoors.  

She also stated that there was no politics in this visit.

“I came here to visit my sister with whom I have over 30 years of relationship,” Sobhana stated.
