Thiruvananthapuram: Reiterating his position on chancellorship of state universities, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said the 'national institutions are not a subject of public discussion'.
"I do not wish to continue as chancellor. There must be something very serious. Anything which comes in the definition of national institution should not be made a subject of controversy or public discussion," he told reporters.
He asked VD Satheesan to check with CM about the D Litt controversy instead of making public statements. "He is so close to the government. Instead of being more loyal than the King, he can check with the king himself," Governor said.
Meanwhile, opposition leader VD Satheesan alleged that the Governor is not doing his duty. "We are criticising the Governor for not acting against the government. Making the Kannur University VC resign is the job of the Governor. He must do it," he said.
SFI national president VP Sanu said that the Governor has 'media mania'.
