Kozhikode: Following recent reports of lost answer sheets at Kerala University, a similar complaint has emerged against Calicut University. A hotel management student from Oriental Group of Educational Institutions in Wayanad has alleged that his answer sheet, submitted for revaluation, has gone missing. The student has formally lodged a complaint regarding the incident.
According to the student’s mother, the issue came to light six months after the answer sheet was submitted for revaluation on June 29 last year. Despite repeated inquiries, the university initially assured them that the evaluation was still in progress.
University officials later provided a contact number for further information. However, whenever the student's mother reached out, she was directed to various other officials, receiving no concrete updates. Even after visiting the university in person, she was told that the revaluation process was ongoing. Eventually, the family discovered through other sources that the answer sheet had been lost.
The student had already secured a job in the Gulf and left after submitting the paper for revaluation. It was only later that the student's mother was urged to check the status of the results. After multiple failed attempts to get a response, she reached out to the Controller of Examinations, who, upon investigating, confirmed that the answer sheet was missing.
Meanwhile, another serious incident has surfaced at the Kerala University. The answer sheets of 71 MBA students who took the Project Finance exam in May 2024 have reportedly gone missing. These students, belonging to five different colleges, are now facing a major crisis.
The university was informed that the answer sheets were lost while in transit by the faculty member responsible for evaluation. In response, the examination authorities have decided to conduct a retest. The affected students received an email stating that they must appear for a special examination on April 7, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Many of these students have already completed their third and fourth-semester exams, yet their results have not been published. When they approached the university for updates, they were reportedly told, "The papers were lost by the teacher. You can take a special exam for free." Some students also claim they were questioned about why they had concerns when others did not.
Several students have expressed frustration, pointing out that many did not receive the exam notification email. Due to the missing results, they are unable to apply for jobs, as their course completion certificates remain pending.
