Kozhikode: The Nipah virus scare is finally declining in the state. The samples of the bats and goats in Chathamangalam collected by the officials of the Department of Animal Husbandry tested negative. The samples were tested at the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal. Along with this, the samples of 20 people who were included in contact list also tested negative.

With this, the number of people who tested negative for Nipah virus rose to 108. There are 65 people remaining under observation. However, none of them have any symptoms. With this, the health department concluded that Nipah scare in the state is over.

The samples collected from bats that were found dead and the goats that showed symptoms were tested in Bhopal. The experts from Pune National Institute of Virology (NIV) are examining the fruit bats in the area to see if they are infected with Nipah virus.
