Thiruvananthapuram: Soon after the police charged a case in connection with the death of poet and lyricist Anil Panachooran, his relatives have responded on the issue. Anil’s relative Paphulla Chandran stated that they requested for post-mortem in order to know the actual cause of death and it was suggested by a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
“He was healthy and visited the temple in the morning. He collapsed there. Then he was rushed to hospitals in Mavelikkara and Karunagappalli. From there he was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. Though COVID was confirmed, he had no symptoms. The hospital authorities suggested it would be better if post-mortem is conducted,” Praphulla Chandran explained.
After completing autopsy, last rites will be held on Monday by 6 in the evening, relatives said. The police charged a case for unnatural death in connection with Anil Panachooran’s death on the basis of statements of his wife Maya and relatives. The police officers made it clear that this is a normal procedure as the family requested for a post-mortem.
As soon as Kayamkulam police reach Thiruvananthapuram, autopsy and other procedures will commence. After this, the body will be handed over to the relatives. Poet-lyricist Anil Panachooran passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday at 8 pm.
