New Delhi: Union Home minister Amit Shah convened a high-level committee meeting in connection with Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan among others.
It is reported that the investigation will reach even people on top of the hierarchy as soon as all necessary evidences are collected. The meeting was held on Friday.
The meeting also reviewed the nature of NIA’s investigation style. The case is investigated under NIA’s south zone Headquarters in Hyderabad.
At one point, the Prime Minister’s office was directly involved in the case. It was following this that the case was handed over to NIA. Earlier, Nirmala Sitharaman had met V Muraleedharan to discuss the case. It was after this Amit Shah had convened the meeting in Delhi.
Bureau of Immigration and Home ministry will handle the follow-up procedures in connection with the cancellation of Faisal Fareed’s passport. Interpol’s lookout notice against Faisal Fareed was released as part of this process.
