Asif Ali reacts to the assault case verdict, says he respects the court’s decision and continues to stand firmly with the survivor.

Reacting to the court verdict in the actress assault case, actor Asif Ali said that he stands firmly with the survivor and that he respects the judgement.
“I accept the court’s verdict. If I comment on the judgement, it will amount to contempt of court. My stand has always been that the survivor must get justice — not that someone in particular must be punished. Everyone whom the court deemed punishable has been punished. I continue to stand with the survivor,” Asif Ali said. He was speaking to the media while arriving to cast his vote in the local body elections.
Asif Ali also responded to questions about whether actor Dileep should be reinstated in film organisations. Asif Ali said if Dileep was removed when he was facing allegations, then organisations should handle the current verdict also in the appropriate manner.
“No one has taken a unilateral decision against anybody. The only stand is that the survivor must get justice — not that someone must necessarily be punished. She is my colleague, a very close friend. If something like that has happened to her, no compensation is enough. I only want her to get justice.
If I comment on the verdict now, it will amount to contempt of court. It is not right for me to express an opinion on what the court has decided. The court has delivered what it found to be correct. Further legal steps are underway, and we will know the developments in due course,” Asif Ali added.
