Aluva: The police have taken four people into custody for allegedly creating a ruckus near Chowara railway station.
The incident happened on Tuesday night. Police nabbed Faizal Babu, Siraj, Sanir, and Kabir for allegedly attacking a group of people near the railway station.
Four people were injured in the attack, including Sulaiman, a former panchayat member. Sulaiman, who suffered serious injuries, is on ventilator support at a hospital here.
Although Nedumbassery police have arrested those who were directly involved in the crime, the motive is yet unknown. Meanwhile, three other accused in the case are still absconding.
The incident transpired at around 10:30 p.m. Initially, a person arrived at the airport on a bike to observe the surroundings. Later, in a car, a group of goons entered the railway station with weapons such as machetes and hammers. The locals panicked and eloped. The CCTV footage of the incident later came out.
However, Sulaiman was not able to run, and the goons brutally attacked him with the weapons. The people who witnessed the incident said that the goons had threatened to kill him.
The prime accused, Faizal Babu, was arrested from Thrissur, and the others from Kakkanad and Aroor.
Previously, Faizal Babu had a dispute over a car accident with the son of Siddique, another person who was attacked in the incident. The case was settled convivially.
The preliminary conclusion is that this enmity is the reason behind the attack.
The Aluva rural SP, Vaibhav Saxena, informed that the goons who attacked in Chowara do not belong to the district. He also stated that it was a planned attack. He added that a detailed investigation regarding the issue is going on.
