Pathanamthitta: CPM Konni area committee member and CITU state committee member Malayalappuzha Mohanan, a relative of Naveen Babu, has accused Kannur District Collector Arun K. Vijayan of manipulating the farewell event for Assistant District Magistrate (ADM) PP Divya to suit her schedule.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Mohanan said that Naveen Babu initially disagreed with holding the farewell meeting, arguing it was unnecessary since he was not retiring. Despite this, the collector insisted on organising the event and changed its timing from the morning to the afternoon to accommodate Divya, who was unable to attend in the morning.
Mohanan questioned why the timing was altered and pointed out that the collector had summoned Divya who was an uninvited guest to the evening meeting. He expressed concerns about possible ulterior motives behind these actions and suggested there may be someone influencing the collector.
Mohanan also said that CPM's Pathanamthitta District Secretary K. P. Udayabhanu has confirmed that these matters were discussed. He also called for an investigation into the situation. He emphasised the need to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. A decision on whether to file a formal complaint against the collector will be made after consultations with party leaders. Mohanan indicated that legal action might be pursued if the collector remains in office.
